Samantha qualified as a Systemic Psychotherapist (UKCP reg) in 1998. She has extensive experience working within the NHS in a Child and Family Mental Health Team and then working for Barnardos and most presently employed part time, offering counselling with adolescents in a secondary school. She has provided therapeutic support for adults, families, children and adolescents who are experiencing difficulties that are impacting on everyday life. These range from working with anger, anxiety, stress, low mood and depression, self esteem issues, self harm issues, trauma based issues from past and present experiences or feeling overwhelmed in managing transitional changes to life (e.g. having a baby, being made redundant, divorce and separation, bereavement, relationship difficulties.)

Samantha has also supported families in parenting children who suffer from ADHD, Autism/Aspergers Syndrome, anxiety and depression. She has supported parents in difficult periods when managing challenging or worrying behaviour experienced by their child and/or adolescent.

Samantha uses Systemic and Solution Focused theories drawing upon Attachment and Cognitive Behavioural ideas in her practice. Samantha is passionate about her work and is highly motivated and committed in creating positive change to people’s lives. This may be as an individual adult, a child or adolescent or by working with the whole or part of a family. Her interests are underpinned by working together in understanding relationships and how different experiences from the past and present impact upon what we think and how we act.

Samantha has run workshops and training events for social workers, trainee medical and nursing staff, foster carers, teachers, psychotherapist and counsellors. She has recently been working with Attachment-Based Therapy whilst working with Looked After Children and foster carers.

Samantha is a member of the UKCP(United Kingdom of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and AFT (Association of Family therapy) and adheres to the code of practice of both organisations.
